1. Potential last week of season

As we approach the end of our season, for some of us this may be the final week. The season and practices will continue beyond next week for wrestlers who meet the following criteria:
-Qualify for NEUSAW State (Top 4 in Districts and plan to go to NEUSAW State in Grand Island)
-Wrestle as a Prek – K at Districts + win a match there (And plan to go to NEUSAW State in Grand Island)
-Wrestle as a girl at Districts + win a match there (And plan to go to NEUSAW State in Grand Island)
-Are wrestling at AAU State or part of our Huskerland Dual Teams
-Are a practice partner for anyone who did qualify for any of the above

If not, it was great having you this season! Be sure to keep checking your email and our Facebook as we do have an Awards Banquet that we’ll do to celebrate our season in the April time.

  1. District 5 Tournament

Now that the regular season is ending, let’s move on to post season! Our District 5 Tournament this year is going to be Sunday, March 8th in Wahoo, NE. For those of you that are new to the club this tournament is different than all the other tournaments we’ve done. Here are the main points we want to get across:

a) The goal of District 5 Tournament is to go to NEUSAW State. If you are signing up for this tournament, you are signing up with the mindset that you will be attending our NEUSAW State Tournament in Grand Island March 20-22. This District 5 tournament is the qualifier for that tournament. All PreK – K division automatically qualify for state (But need to win 1 match to qualify to have FWC pay your way). All Girls automatically qualify for state (Also need to win 1 match to qualify to have FWC pay your way). For Boys divisions 1st grade and up the top 4 of each weight class qualify for state.

b) There is actually weight divisions for this tournament. Please look at the flyer, you must decide on what weight class your child will be wrestling at for this tournament based off their division. Whatever weight class you choose, you MUST make scratch weight with a singlet (Must weigh in with singlet, no exceptions!) on the day before the tournament (Saturday). It will also be the weight you have to wrestle at in Grand Island for NEUSAW State. There is no changing between the 2 tournaments. Fremont will be hosting a Satellite Weigh In Saturday at FHS from 3-5. You can look at the flyer for other locations. There is no other way to weigh in for this tournament.

c) With all of that being said here’s the registration link for District 5, please read over this one as it has extra questions which must be answered:

  1. NEUSAW State

We’ve mentioned this above but what is this about? NEUSAW State in Grand Island is the culmination of the wrestling season. It’s where the best of the best go to showcase their skills! But enough of us selling it, here’s the important information we’d like to get across about this:

a) This is in Grand Island March 20-22 (Friday through Sunday). Depending on your division you will have to look at the schedule to see when your child will wrestle and decide what day(s) you’ll have to be there.
Info found here:
https://www.nebraskausawrestling.org/statefolkstyle

b) Whatever weight you wrestled at Districts is the weight you HAVE TO wrestle at state. Meaning you must maintain your weight between the 2 weeks between Districts and State. You are unable to change your weight class after that. Again, you will have to weigh in with a singlet on.

c) Accommodations in Grand Island… If your child makes state then travel and hotel is up to the parent to figure out per kid. The Fremont Wrestling Club tries to reserve rooms ahead of time and have a block for kids that make state. But to be honest and upfront, there is never enough rooms for as many people that make it and go to state. This weekend is one of the busiest weekends in Grand Island with every other wrestling club trying to get rooms too. If your child makes state, let us know RIGHT AWAY and we will give you details on the block and our hotel. But don’t be surprised if even if you act fast that rooms are already sold out for our block and just in general. We apologize; we do the best we can.

  1. Loganview

We would like to just let people know about a possible last tournament vs Districts. On Friday, March 6th there’s Havoc on the Hill (Loganview). This is available for PreK-6th grade (No Middle Schoolers). It’s a smaller tournament and a good way to finish the year if you’re not planning on Grand Island / Kearney. This is not a club paid tournament, meaning parents will have to register their own kid up. We will also have limited coaches there, so there’s a good chance you may have to coach your own kid on the mat. Info found here:
