1. Tourney sign up

For the first weekend of tournaments we are offering:
a) Doug Weidner Memorial Tournament
This is our OMAWA tournament option at Omaha Bryan. Recommended for our wrestlers with a little more experience.
b) Wisner Gator Swamp Stomp
This is our District 5 tournament option at Wisner-Pilger. Recommended for our wrestlers who are still learning.

First, here is the form to fill out to sign up:

Second, we are recommending tournaments, but it is completely up to you which one you go to. We are offering the option right now for parents to see how it naturally works but may need to assign if they become too lopsided. Most tournaments offer a novice/open division, but not all do. Be sure to check the flyers with these tournaments (Which are located in our calendar and linked to the sign up forms if available)

The process is to click on the link above and fill out all the information for your wrestlers. We register them on Monday night, so don’t hesitate to fill out those forms. Any forms filled out after Monday are not guaranteed a spot in these tournaments. They do fill up, so be sure to be on top of your Monday updates.

  1. Tourney 101

We know a lot of you are new this year, so we’d like to quickly break down some things to expect if this is your first wrestling tournament.

a) Read the flyer! The flyer will show the sessions. So, you need to find your girls/boys division, open/novice division, and age/grade division to find out when your wrestling time is. You need to arrive ONE HOUR before your session. If the flyer says wrestle time is 10:00 am, you need to be there at 9:00 am. That gives you time to get into your wrestling gear and get some warmups in before you wrestle.
b) Prepare to spend some time there! Sessions will normally last a couple hours. If you’re wrestling at 10:00 am it may be after 12:00 before you’re finally done wrestling. We would love and encourage everyone in Fremont Wrestling Club to find other parents in the club, and all sit together. That way you’re not just cheering your kid, but other kids in the club as well!
c) Tournaments are usually cash only. There’s always a gate fee to get in and of course concessions there. Plan on bringing cash as a lot of them don’t do Venmo or any other digital payment methods. Gate fees are around $5-$7 for adults, usually less for kids. Concessions can range between the $1-$10 range, depending on what you’re getting. You can also pack a little lunch box with some snacks as well. You can’t bring in full coolers though.
d) If you’re bringing the whole family, please consider entertainment for siblings, especially younger ones. There’s some down time between matches and keeping kid’s attention up and boredom down is something to consider when going to these tournaments.
e) Only coaches on the mat when your kid is wrestling. They are really starting to crack down on only having 2 coaches per wrestlers on the mat at all times.

  1. Raffles/Shirts

We will have raffle tickets available at practices this week if you need to pick up additional ones.

We will also have FWC shirts available as well for kids who would still like one. Still more info to come about a full apparel shop for everyone in the future.

  1. OMAWA Duals

Fremont Wrestling Club also plans to participate in the OMAWA duals.

The only info we got for you right now is that they will be on Saturday, Jan 17th.

We will have a board in the practice rooms with all the weights for all the teams we need. If interested, please fill out that board with your name next to weight you’d like to wrestle at. If we get multiple entries for the same weight, they will have to wrestle off to see who gets that spot.

Any questions let us know.
