1. This weekend’s tournament

This weekend we’re just offering one tournament. In fact for the rest of the season we’ll only have one option as we start getting ready for the end of the season with districts and state!

This weekend we’re going to Omaha for MWC’s Ryan Christo Memorial Tournament:

This will take us to South Omaha in Springfield. They do offer a novice/open division. Please pay attention to the sessions as satellite weigh ins may not be an option.

  1. Volunteers for our tournament

First, we’d like to send out the sign up link for our tournament again:

A little history about volunteering for our tournament. We’ve usually required parents to work the entire day, from before the first session to after the last. We’d offer breaks just when your kid is wrestling so you can watch them. We need as many hands as we can to make sure the tournament runs smoothly. This far into the season, we’re sure you’ve seen how other tournament are ran. Some good, some not as good. This is all dependent on volunteers that make this run.

This year we’re trying something different. Instead of all day, we’re offering the opportunity for people to sign up for sessions. This means if you’ve got a 3rd-4th grader, you can sign up for the 5th-6th grade session to make sure you’re free and available when your child is wrestling.

But by doing this, we actually need people to sign up more than just once. We’d like to see everyone sign up for 3 of the 5 sessions available. They can all be the same job or you can switch up what you’re doing. But we do need everyone to work multiple sessions to make this way work. We will evaluate about a week before the tournament to see if all spots are filled otherwise we may have to convert into “First half” and “Last half” time requirements.

As a reminder, failure to volunteer for this tournament will forfeit the club from paying for your child’s tournament registrations.

  1. Concession Donations

One more thing we need from everyone to help our tournament is concession donations. Be on the lookout this week to get a piece of paper letting you know what item we need you to bring on behalf of the concession stand. These are typically small item donations, but really help us out in getting everything we need ready for the tournament.
